Boat trips from Hania
Boat trips are available from the outer harbour in Hania, including the 'Yellow Submarine, Captain Nicks 'glass bottom' boat and M/S Irini. The latter two offer excursion to the island of Agioi Theodoroi with good opportunities for swimming and snorkelling. A few remains exist on the island of the Venetian fortifications constructed in 1574, and blown up by the Venetians during the Turkish invasion of 1645. The island is uninhabited, and is now a National Park, occupied only by the depleted numbers of Kri-Kri (the Cretan Ibex or wild goat).
